Coyote and Solstar Space continue their engagement with Solstar's latest venture: the Deke Space Communicator.
When Solstar Space was awarded their $1.2m SBIR contract, they didn't need to look for ace engineering skills: they had it, in Coyote.
"I love where Brian is taking Solstar Space," says Charlie Whetsel, principal Coyote team member. "The Deke Space Communicator is a smart idea, and building it out is going to be really satisfying."
“With Solstar’s Deke, the Department of Air Force (DAF) can connect space assets which makes the communications network more resilient," says Brian Barnett, CEO of Solstar Space. "Deke enables narrowband communications for both uplink and downlink, decreasing the time it takes to download mission data or adjust on-orbit systems."
Coyote will be assisting Solstar Space in both fulfilling their SBIR contract, and helping build something that has commercial viability as well.
Solstar Space and Coyote are also working with New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) to develop a Spacecraft Health Monitor that integrates iwth Deke to provided detailed operating data.
"There are a lot of interesting interactions between the components of this project," says Charlie. "Brian has a big vision, and finding the most effective way to reach it is what we love to do."
